Story of abstract painting ..."Breaking News"

I am launching a new section focused on my creative process.
I am starting with "Breaking News", a favorite abstract painting of the whole family, which stands proudly in my living room waiting for its future owner.

The idea:

This contemporary canvas in a beautiful size (150x100 cm) was born as follows. It's while browsing through my favorite Design magazines that I came across a hotel room covered in wallpaper featuring square black and white photos repeated endlessly. The idea evolved alongside my desire to work with newspaper clippings again and create paintings on the theme of "news".

The achievement:

I replaced the photographs seen in the magazine with torn pieces of the New York Times. Then, I worked with diluted paint mixed with varnish to create a glaze, allowing the writing to show through. I finally applied a black grid symbolizing the frame, order, and formatting, while also echoing the structured visual of the magazine. If you are familiar with my work, the contrast of shapes, materials, and colors is common. The cross visible in the top right corner is a nod to Antoni Tàpies, an immense artist I have previously mentioned to you.
